About

I'm an infrastructure engineer in Colombo, Sri Lanka, working on cloud platforms. I started in IT operations and support, and today I run Kubernetes workloads on Azure, manage infrastructure as code with Terraform, and keep systems observable with Prometheus and Grafana.

I have more than three years in infrastructure systems and I keep building on them. I hold Azure and security fundamentals certifications, and I write runbooks for the infrastructure I build so others can support it.

  1. March 2025 to September 2026

    Associate Infrastructure Engineer, Cloud Platform

    IGT1 (Client: Sitecore), Colombo

    • Automated the deployment, monitoring and management of infrastructure and applications.
    • Ran containerized workloads on Kubernetes and Docker, with Prometheus and Grafana for observability.
    • Monitored production health and troubleshot issues early to protect availability, in line with SRE principles.
    • Maintained and improved infrastructure as code with Terraform and GitHub.
    • Documented infrastructure builds, wrote support runbooks and worked with development and operations teams on reliable releases.

  2. December 2024 to March 2025

    Systems Engineer II, Technical Operations

    Camms, a Riskonnect Company, Colombo

    • Monitored and maintained IT systems and networks to head off disruptions.
    • Provided L1 and L2 support and resolved systems cases quickly.
    • Improved IT processes and documentation for both IT teams and end users.
    • Kept detailed records of issues and solutions, and trained junior engineers.

  • AKS upgrades and Flux CD migrations

    Azure Kubernetes Service, Flux CD, GitOps

    Planned and ran each AKS version upgrade, from 1.33 through 1.34 to 1.35, along with the Flux CD migrations. The aim each time was stable clusters and as little service disruption as possible.

  • Proactive alerting and dashboards

    Prometheus, Grafana Alloy, Grafana

    Set up proactive alerting with Prometheus and Grafana Alloy, and built custom metrics dashboards in Grafana so the state of the systems is easy to see.

  • FinOps cost optimization

    Azure, FinOps

    Moved legacy Azure VM SKUs to more efficient alternatives and decommissioned unused resources, contributing to cloud cost savings.
